nice blog!

although I do agree that those assets could've been better used towards improving the defense or the center position, having a goalie tandem of bernier-reimer is pretty appealing...

They say great teams build from the net out, well this trade today was Toronto's first step in becoming a very respectable team in the near future

Yes Jimmy, we all heard your opinions on this on the last blog you were on. You've yet to spell Reimer's name right in any of them also.

Can anyone say Toskala 2.0? Nonis is an idiot. Luongo would have given him six solid years as a legit no.1(including this past season when they might have beat Boston with him) and then mentored whoever was coming up in the process to take over.instead he takes a flyer on someone unproven and paid more for the privilege.bernier and nonis won't be there in five years.Luongo will outlast both of them wherever he goes next.

I like this trade. Never gave up a whole lot and have a potential stud.
Interested to see the next few moves by the leafs ...

Agree about luongo. Only problem with Lou is the back end of that contract. Otherwise you take him over Bernier every time.

Colborne, Ashton, even D'Amigo can fill Frattin's role next year. Just saying.

To all the trade bashers, heaven forbid we have 2 good starters like Bos, Chi, St. L, Minny, Ana, Van, NYR, Pitt, etc.. Scrievens wasn't it. Nonis ain't done either, for those bringing up other holes to fill.

Hate this deal, that the leafs also kept 500k in cap makes it that much worse.
You always say the team that gets the best player wins the deal.
Matt Frattin is the best player in this deal.

I like this trade and I think there is more to come....look at Reimer in the last 10 minutes of the game 7 Bruins series and you know why Nonis did this move....he didnt shut the door when we really needed him too in a 4-1 game.

I still like the kid and I think Reimer "could" be a true #1, possibly, but I also have doubts about him and his injury problems so far....

Bernier is dying to show he is a true #1 that got stuck behind Quick, he will be awesome on the Leafs IMHO

BTW there are tons of Frattin type players out there, anyone saying he is a huge loss, doesnt watch enough hockey....

I get the feeling they have a good (better) deal up there sleeve for Reimer then what they paid for Bernier. I'm guessing a backup goalie, 1st round pick (top 20) and a roster player. Otherwise I don't see the need to add another 1st tier goalie. Interesting that Bernier will sign "soon" with the draft "soon"

More interesting is that Phaneuf is in play. Could you see him (and Reimer) in Edmonton. very good for Edmonton by addressing there major weaknesses but would have to include soon better prospects (not the big 4 up front).

4th round goalie
Versus high first round goalie with pedigree I like our chances

Leafs got a fine goalie in Bernier; as a Kings fan, I'm very happy that's he went to the Eastern Conference. Reimer is a good goalie too, and Leafs should have a healthy competition between the two.....

Scrivens seems like a good backup....Leafs fans, what are we getting in Frattin ? Did he struggle last year when he came back from the knee injury, or was the lineup set and he only got 4th line minutes ?

Frattin is not the best player in this deal, lol...Bernier is by a landslide...
Frattin scored 7goals in 10 games to start the year, and didn't score after that...o in 22games.

I like Frattin, hard worker, hits, and has good hands...easily top9 guy, could even fill in top6 for you guys if you had some injuries...could score 15-20 with regular ice time...

Riemer nets a top 20 pick, backup goalie and roster player? Are you high? You sound like Cloutier gauging the price on Ales Hemsky now.
